"Be holy, because I am holy."     (1 Peter 1:16)

The Dhinakarans Dearly beloved, sanctification is the first step to receive a double portion of God's blessing. God says, "Be holy, because I am holy" (1 Peter 1:16).

The Bible relates, “Elijah said to Elisha, ‘Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?’ ‘Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit’, Elisha replied” (II Kings 2:9).

When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way to Gilgal (II Kings 2:1).

Sanctification is the first step to enter into the promised land. When the Lord brought Joshua and the Israelites to Gilgal, He told Joshua, “Circumcise all the Israelites.” Accordingly, Joshua circumcised all the Israelites (Joshua 5:3). So Gilgal is a place of sanctification.

“Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you’” (Joshua 3:5). When Joshua circumcised the Israelites, the commander of the Lord’s army said, “The place where you are standing is holy” (Joshua 5:15). When the Israelites were sanctified, Joshua could see the commander of the Lord’s army.

Dearly beloved, even today, when you sanctify yourself, the Lord will send His Holy Spirit upon you. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, He will convict you concerning sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16:8). He will also keep on sanctifying you.

"Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty” (II Corinthians 6:17,18). When you are sanctified, the Lord Himself will become your Father. The Holy Spirit will transform you into the image of Lord Jesus Christ. You will be blessed in double measure.

Loving Lord Jesus,

You are holy and righteous. I surrender my life to You. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Sanctify me completely. Help me to be holy and blameless in your sight. Transform me into your image. Give me the grace to inherit a double portion of your blessing.

In Your matchless name I pray.
