A SPOTLESS SACRIFICE
Paul Dhinakaran
Dearly beloved,
Your life should be a living testimony for God.
Many years ago, one morning, I was driving my car quite fast towards the Jesus Calls Office. A cyclist emerged from a by-way and rode into the center of the road, almost getting in the way of my car; I was annoyed. When I had to stop at a signal, I noticed him stopping beside my car. With the intention of expressing my displeasure, I slid down the windshield.
When the young cyclist saw me, he excitedly said, Oh, Brother Paul Dhinakaran? I cant believe it! I have been wishing to see you for a very long time. God has given me a chance to meet you this morning. What a great joy! He didnt stop with that; he put his head into the car and asked me to pray for him. I was shocked! I thanked God within my heart, saying, Lord, thank You for having saved me from speaking thoughtless words, and then prayed for the young man.
That incident shook me. From that day, before stepping out every morning, I would pray, O Lord, Give me your virtue of mercy so that I would never get impatient!
Yes! How important it is to offer ourselves as spotless sacrifices! When we offer ourselves totally as blameless sacrifices, the Holy Spirit shall descend upon us. As we have already seen in Hebrews 9:14, the Lord Jesus Christ offered Himself as a spotless sacrifice through the eternal Spirit. He shall transform us into vessels of mercy.
The Bible says, Forgive as the Lord forgave you (Colossians 3:13). Just as the Lord extended His forgiveness and mercy to us, we should be merciful to one another and forgive one another. When you offer yourself as a living sacrifice to the Lord, He will change you into a vessel of mercy. Then His love will flow from you to others.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
I offer myself as a spotless sacrifice to You. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit and change me into a vessel of mercy. Help me to forgive others just as You forgave me. Let words of mercy shall flow from my mouth, bringing comfort to others.
In Your matchless name I pray,
Amen.
