FIND REFUGE IN GOD
Stella Dhinakaran
Dearly beloved,
The Almighty God is a Refuge for all His beloved children.
The Bible says, He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler (Psalm 91:4).
The above Scriptures are the base for this question and I hope you would have read this in the Bible. Apostle Paul says,
All the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us (II Corinthians 1:20). Words describe the promises that the Lord has given us. It will be good if we make them ours. The Scripture says, Like birds flying about, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; passing over, He will preserve it (Isaiah 31:5).
God wants to give such kind of protection and loving care to every one of us. How amazing is this! But hardly realizing this, we often give room for concern, complaining, I am lonely! I dont have anybody in this world! and become depressed.
We read about a couple called Elimelech and Naomi in the Bible who had two sons, Mahlon and Kilion. Since there was a famine in the land of Judah, where they lived, they took refuge in the country of Moab. But tragedy struck that family; within a short period, Elimelech, the head of the family, died. Naomi took the Moabite women, Ruth and Orpah, for marriage for her two sons. After ten years, both the sons also died. At this time, on hearing that the famine in her land of Judah had come to an end, Naomi told her daughters-in-law, I am returning to my country. Both of you go back to your mothers house, get married and be happy. Accordingly, one of them left but the other one, Ruth, clung to her mother-in-law. She followed the Lord God, whom she was worshiping with great reverence, as her own saying, Your God is my God. Thus she took refuge under the wings of the Lord God of Israel.
Dearly beloved, the Lord lovingly invites you, stretching out His hands towards you and saying, Daughter, come to Me; I will keep you safe under the shadow of My wings and give you full reward. But have we committed ourselves to His love out of which He shed His precious blood on the Cross, offered Himself up as a living sacrifice and is waiting to make us His own to keep us safe under His wings by stretching forth His gracious hands towards us. Today, many young people step back saying, This world and the things of the world are pleasurable to me. How can I leave them all and focus on Godly things even at this young age? That's why; today many families have lost the presence of God. Young people easily get caught up in the worldly life and struggle not knowing what to do.
Dear ones, today you who read this, whether you are young or old, commit your life into the hands of the Lord like Ruth and yield yourself fully to Him, pleading, Lord, I belong only to You. Please hide me under the shadow of Your wings; I dont want this world and its pleasures. Change me into one who pleasing to You and make my life like that of Ruth. Then the Lord who is waiting for this will embrace you with love, kiss you and take you into His fold. Today, who among you want to abide under the wings of the Most High God and under His shadow? It is certain that He will change every one of you who seeks His refuge as a blessed person.
David the Psalmist says, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1). God is compared to a mighty fortress defending a city. We can hide safely in the shelter of His presence and always receive His protection and blessing.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
You loved us so much that You gave up Your own life for us. I yield my life to You and take refuge under Your wings. I trust in Your promises and claim them for myself. Please hide me under the shadow of Your wings and grant me Your protection and loving care. According to Your promises, change me into a blessed person.
In Your matchless name I pray,
Amen.
