GOD WILL STRENGTHEN YOU
Stella Dhinakaran
Dearly beloved,
The Bible says, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). If we examine how the Holy Spirit strengthens us to have these, it can be seen that we need to cleanse ourselves from everything that defiles us, perfecting holiness in the fear of God according to 2 Corinthians 7:1.
This world is under the sway of the wicked one (I John 5:19). The devil induces us to do things that are against godly fear and holy life. Look at the life of Joseph in the Bible! In all holiness, he had a close fellowship with God. He had this grace even in the days of his youth. But look at the temptation that came across his way! He was peacefully working in a house and leading his life with a good name. But the devil tempted him through his masters wife. Yet at that time, he resisted it saying How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" and thus guarded himself with holiness and godly fear with the decision, I will not yield to any temptation, whatever it might be. This is the way that pleases God.
Dearly beloved, when such temptations come your way, you should depart from them and guard yourself holy. Yes, see how greatly Joseph was exalted since he patiently endured his temptation! Is it easy to be elevated to the high position next to the king in a nation? That too, it was not in his nation. How amazing that this happened in a foreign land! The reason for all of these is that the Almighty God was constantly looking at him. So when things that are not pleasing to God and things that are against Him come in your life, keep yourself away from them. Receive the strength with the godly zeal that you will do only things that are pleasing to God. Apart from this, when we are filled with the Holy Spirit, He will remove our fears about our future and all that is unwanted in our lives. Instead, He will fill us with divine power, love and a sound mind.
In my life, I used to be so timid and shy. Since my parents brought me up in all godliness, I did not know anything about the outside world. So I always lived in fear. But the calling of the Lord for me was that I should go out boldly, tell about Him to others and thereby do the ministry. Initially, I worried a lot as to how to go about this. But when the Holy Spirit filled me, my life turned upside down. So today He is strengthening me to do His ministry. Wont the Lord do the same thing for you too? Surely He will do it. So commit your life completely to Him. Especially, dear young children, when you are filled with the Holy Spirit and live a pleasing life to God, He will be sufficient for you. It is His pleasure to bless you.
The Bible says, Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him (Psalm 25:12). The Lord says, But for you who revere My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall (Malachi 4:2). Will you claim such promises for yourself and commit your life with godly fear to arise and shine for the Lord? Then the hand of God will make you abide in Him as a blessed person.
The Bible says,
God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). When the Spirit of God comes into you, your faith in God will grow strong and you will receive the divine strength to do His will. You will become a vessel of love and your mind will be filled with pure thoughts.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
I commit my life to You and honour You with all my heart. Give me the grace to guard myself holy and live a life pleasing to You. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit and remove all my fears concerning my future. Guide me in the way chosen for me and lift me up in life.
In Your matchless name I pray,
Amen.
