JESUS, OUR GUIDING LIGHT
Paul Dhinakaran
Dearly beloved,
The Bible says, "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you (Isaiah 60:1).
I happened to read an article written with the core idea of highlighting the distresses undergone by unemployed young men. They were in a helpless situation with all the doors shut upon them. They were in utter darkness!
The Lord Jesus says, My dear children, I want to release you from darkness and radiate bright light into your life; I want to shine in your hearts and light up your lives.
Here is a story of a young man from a magazine. He was always fond of listening to a popular rock music band of that time. His mother warned him not to listen to the debasing music, but he was not willing to give up his habit. Gradually he became a slave to it. He told his mother: Mom, I cannot live without it; it has become an integral part of my life. As days went by, he was unable to concentrate on his lessons and failed miserably in his studies. He could not achieve anything in life and his future became a big question mark. He lost his peace.
Yes! When young people follow the worldly ways, the darkness of fear surrounds them; they become restless as there is no peace in their lives. Aware of their difficult situation, the Lord says: My children, it is enough that you struggled in darkness; I want to illuminate your hearts.
In Matthew 27:45,46, we read that when the Lord Jesus was crucified, from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. About the ninth hour, He cried out in a loud voice, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? As He Himself has walked through the path of darkness, He is fully aware of your difficult situations!
Dearly beloved, look at the Lord Jesus who is the Light of the World. He will heed your cry and make His light shine upon you; then you will receive the light of life and arise and shine!
The Lord Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12). The Lord Jesus came into the world as the Light. He shows us the way to life. When you live in fellowship with Him by following His commands, darkness will pass away from your life and His light will surround you. He will guide you in the path of peace and life.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
You came as the Light into this world. I look to You for help. Release me from the darkness in my life and shine Your light upon me. Show me the way to peace and help me to arise and shine in my life.
In Your matchless name I pray,
Amen.
