PRAISE HIS MAJESTY!
Paul Dhinakaran
Dearly beloved,
We should praise God at all times. Prophet Jeremiah tells the Lord, You are the One I praise (Jeremiah 17:14). Praising definitely means proclaiming Gods great deeds and powerful actions repeatedly and gladdening His heart!
In Psalm 136, David the Psalmist praises the Lord for the different aspects of His glory: His virtue of goodness, His great might, His authority, His mighty deeds and His power of creation! Thus praise is the acknowledgement and sincere declaration of all His great virtues and deeds.
After the Lord Jesus was taken up to heaven, His disciples
stayed continually at the temple, praising God (Luke 24:53). When the devout Job, having lost everything, was struggling with his painful situation, God came down and talked to him out of the whirlwind- not of his tribulations or future, but of His mighty deeds. At that moment, Job acknowledged, "I know that You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted (Job 42:2). God finally gave Job twice as much as he had before and displayed His might.
Here is an incident taken out of the life of a great man of God, Smith Wigglesworth. Once he was called upon to pray for a girl, fatally struck by T.B. When he approached her and laid his hand on her to pray, she died. At that time, the evil one appeared and spoke to him with guile: Your God had been waiting until you came and touched the girl. Just at the nick of the moment, He took her life away.
When Wigglesworth was confused and upset, the Holy Spirit descended upon him and filled him. He reminded to him all the glorious deeds God had done during the Old Testament times. Immediately Wigglesworth looked up at God and began praising Him, I praise You who divided the Red Sea into two and made the Israelites pass through the midst of it; I praise You who fed Your children in the wilderness; I praise You who brought water out of rock
Thus He went on praising the Lord, proclaiming all His mighty deeds.
Just then, the power of the Lord came upon him measurelessly! The sweet face of the Lord Jesus appeared through the opposite window. From His face splendid multi-colored rays of light beamed forth towards both Wigglesworth and the girl! Overcome powerfully by the Holy Spirit and thoroughly tired, the man of God fell asleep. A little later, he got up on hearing the sweet music of a piano. He could not see the girls body in that room! Amazed, he ran downstairs to see her alive!...playing the piano! What a glorious joy!
Yes! How important it is to understand the mighty power of God and praise Him without end!
The Lord says, Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it (Jeremiah 33:9). When we praise God, the Lord of Majesty, His heart shall rejoice! He will display His power in our lives, destroying all our troubles and darkness. His glorious power will also be manifested in our ministry and it will radiate to others through us; we will turn into His representatives carrying His power!
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
I honor You from the depth of my heart. I think of Your glorious deeds in the past and praise You with a thankful heart. Please bless me double fold and display Your power in my life. Turn me into a vessel that bears Your glory.
In Your matchless name I pray,
Amen.
