SEEKING REFUGE IN GOD
Stella Dhinakaran
Dearly beloved,
Gods blessings will surely come to those who seek refuge in Him.
What happened in the life of Ruth who took refuge under the Lords wings? How did she receive the full reward?
Ruth followed the way shown by her mother-in-law, Naomi, with oneness of mind with her. They had no money and life was empty. So when they returned to Bethlehem, they stayed in a hut and had nothing to eat. So as said in the Bible, realizing her responsibilities as a virtuous woman, Ruth briskly went to the nearby field and gleaned heads of grains patiently.
See how far they had traveled by walk from one country to the other! How weary she might have been! But since she placed her trust in the Lord and began to do her work, realizing her duty to help her house and her mother-in-law, the Lord was pleased with her.
Today, how many of us realize our family responsibilities and do our work actively? In Proverbs 31:10-31, we see how a family woman should look after her household matters diligently. Accordingly, Ruth came to Bethlehem and began to do her work with zeal. God might have been surprised by her! Likewise, seeing her ceaseless work, Boaz, the owner of the field where she gleaned among the sheaves, and the other workers understood that she was indeed a virtuous woman.
Dearly beloved, have we earned such good name in the eyes of others? The reason for this was that Ruth firmly held on to the Almighty God and committed herself to abide under His wings. So dear ones who read this, come seeking the wings of the Lord today like Ruth, in all reverence. Let us commit ourselves completely to the Lord saying, I dont need any other refuge. You alone are sufficient for me and do our things in ways pleasing to God and with good testimony.
What happened when Ruth lived in godly fear and walked in ways pleasing to the Lord? According to her mother-in-laws good advice, when she walked in the way opened by God through her, the Lord was pleased with her and set up an excellent future for her.
Boaz was rich and wealthy; He had the Lords abundant blessings. God gave Ruth the privilege to become his wife. See how her life which began in a penniless state changed into such a prosperous one. This is the full reward given by the Lord.
Dearly beloved, let us commit ourselves to come under the wings of the Almighty God like Ruth to cling on to Him firmly, to honor our parents, and above all, to live pleasing lives to Him. Then the God of Israel will stretch forth His hands and bless us and hide us under the shadow of His wings. He will remove all the sufferings we face in this world and make our lives overflow with all rich blessings. May the Lord grant this divine blessing to all those who read this and embrace and protect you!
The Lord says, "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name (Psalm 91:14). As you truly love God and have close fellowship with Him, He will surely set you free from your problems and exalt you in life.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
I come seeking refuge under Your wings and entrust my future into Your hands. Please give me the eagerness to do all my work diligently. Look upon me with mercy and grant me Your protection and loving care. Help me to lead a virtuous life that is pleasing to You. May I find favor in Your eyes and receive the reward for my good deeds.
In Your matchless name I pray,
Amen.
